Sukkot 2026
Leviticus 23: 34-36, Leviticus 23: 42-43, Deuteronomy 16: 13-15, Zechariah 14:16
Joyous. It's what we eagerly anticipate each year. A homecoming. If you haven't experienced attending this Feast of Sukkot in a group setting, you must. This is our 4th year with this same group. We've developed relationships that we continue to nurture, and it's my prayer each year to make a new connection with a fellow believer from our Forever (4eva) Family. This year I met a young lady known as Abigail, who is now my bonus granddaughter. We also met a lady who flew in from Canada and her brother from France, Angelic and Marc, a set of brothers who reside in the area, another lady who is passing thru this area but stopped for Sukkot. I think her name is Parker. Quite a few people who are currently living in the area, or are soon to be. These last few days of the feast, I am having conversations and trading contact information with some ladies, Katie and Barbara, who I can totally relate...quiet, reserved, maybe even shy, definitely sweet and committed to Yah. I'm beyond thankful.
Babies, babies, babies. Children galore. I read how in most denominations, the youth population is all but gone. Churches closed because the elderly partitioners all died, and there were no younger generations to keep the doors open. Not this group. We have been blessed with fertility, health, and growth. The majority of the people are under 45 years old. I really love the number of three month old babies we see each year. Proving this is a blessed feast, and the people are blessed in their obedience to keep it.
There is one family, with whom we have deep connection. Oh how beautiful to watch this family. It's even more beautiful to be included in their world. I cannot express how much they mean to us. The unconditional love and acceptance, the genuine warmth and care. Thankful, we are thankful to know them. Those hugs are at the top of my list of Sukkot favorite things. One of these guys gives great bear hugs. You know you've been hugged!
Hebrew style dance classes were offered this year. I tried, but it was immediately clear that I was out of my depth, and getting in the way. This made me really sad. I have wanted to dance for so long. I sat in my truck and cried a little. It was as much the notion that I was "getting in the way" as it was my inability to keep up with the others. I reached out to a trusted friend, who always reflects reality when my perspective is blurred. One day, in my resurrected body, I will dance like David. It wasn't till last evening that I understood a wave of Spiritual Warfare had gone thru the entire camp. It wasn't just me. When I think about it, you know, it seems I get the same attack each year. I desire fellowship and family so deeply, the evil one attacks that. Hopefully I'll see it for what it is in the future.
I ask Yah to show me my place amongst the brethren. I will not believe I have out lived my usefulness. Yah has brought me this far, through trial after trial, around obstacle after obstacle, over enemies- external and within, He will still use me. My lessons learned are not for me alone. I am waiting on Yah, and He will reveal the direction. I also need to be aware of the fact that the refining process is in the hands of Yah, I don't get to determine when I'm ready, nor for what use.
We have the Last Great Day yet to celebrate in this year's feast. A few more days to love on our 4eva family, and meet new ones. It will be good to get back home, sleep in my bed, and get back into routine. But mainly we'll be looking forward to Sukkot 2027 here or in the New Jerusalem.
A work in Progress
Teresa
