The Standard

I have often gotten defensive when I hear a non Christian tell Christians how Christians are supposed to behave or believe.  Seems ridiculous.  How would they how? They don't set the standard. Most recently it was in the Minnesota Church, where protesters entered the Church and screamed at the parishioners, calling them bad Christians and demanding they adhere to the protesters' standard for Christian behavior and beliefs.

Christians have done similar things. For instance condemning homosexuals, atheists, or even those in other religions, for their lifestyle, when those people never signed up to align themselves with the instructions written in the Bible. Yes, the whole world is subject to the Most High and His ways, yet we will never reach those communities of people with condemnation.  Condemning isn't our job. Emulating the standards for behavior found in the Holy Scriptures is our duty, honor and discipleship. How about we focus more on our behaviors, making sure we are in walking in the way, not veering to the left or the right?

There are certain scriptures that command us to have nothing to do with certain people with certain behaviors. Exodus 22:18, Timothy3:5, Titus 3:10-11, I Corinthians 5:11, Ephesians5:7-13, so have nothing to do with them. Simple. (But my new favorite montra is 2 Timothy 2:23-26.)

We also have scriptures that tell us to be Holy because or like Yahuah is Holy. The first time we see that is in Leviticus. The same book that lays out Abba's instructions for living. He's telling us how to be Holy. set apart from the world, set apart to The Most High. We have a clear standard for behavior for believers. Leviticus 19:2, 11:44, 20:7, 20:26, Matthew 5:48, 1 Peter 1:15-16. Our Father would not direct us to do something beyond our ability. He knows we will fail from time to time, that's why He has provided Yahusha/Jesus as our High Priest to intercede for us, to forgive and restore us.

In closing I would encourage all followers of The Way to ask Father to show you His ways and teach you to walk in them that you will be Holy as He is Holy. Unbelievers don't set the standard, He does.

Still a work in progress
