The Peace that Passes Understanding

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

As I was recounting my recent leap of faith, to a friend, I saw the concern in her eyes. Quickly, I mentally ran over what I said to elicit such a look from her. Yeah, I could see it, from a human perspective, my leap has landed me in an unsure spot. No employer, no income guaranteed, no job benefits like medical insurance. Yet, I only felt peace. I flashed a smile. Surely it reflected the calm I had.

I recently posted about taking a leap of faith. Those big life decisions can stir up anxiety, fear, sleeplessness, digestion issues, and more. What we desire is peace. I got some peace when I understood that either choice was within the will of Yah. In my situation there wasn't a wrong choice. All I had to do was walk in righteousness. Right path, left path, no matter, remain obedient to Yah's instructions. I'll be ok.

The calm started to settle on me when the decision was finalized.  I took that leap, hanging in mid-air, I was able to relax. I had peace. Not only peace, but focus. The vision of the path I have chosen became more clear. I began sleeping better, my rolling tummy stopped rolling, I stopped clenching my teeth, I was truly resting for the first time in eight months. The indecision had been feeding the anxiety.

Begin each day with Thank you Abba, thank you. Give Yah praise and thanksgiving for He alone is our provider. He knows our needs, and He cares. Nothing I could provide for myself is as secure. It could all disappear in an instant, but the love and promises of Yah are everlasting.

A work in progress
